Pratt & Whitney has extended the basic Time Between overhaul on their PT6A-140 line of engines up from 3600 hours to 4000 hours and increased Hot Section inspection (HSI) intervals from 1800 to 2000 hours. These improvements will greatly benefit general aviation operators by increasing flying time and significantly decreasing maintenance cost. The PT6A-140 series is the latest engine to the PT6A family and Pratt & Whitney have delivered close to 500 engines to date. The PT6A-140 entered into service in 2012 on the Cessna Grand Caravan EX and has since logged over 500,000 flight hrs. The increased TBO and HSI intervals were made possible by the substantiate condition of the engines at overhaul and the proven performance and reliability of the PT6A engine family.
